You know your weekend went well when you’ve got several new dessert recipes turned out, tasted and crumbs left to clean up by Monday morning.

Are you all ready for the holidays? Do you have all your Christmas shopping done for everyone on your gift giving list this year? Do you already have your holiday meal planning done? We may not be able to help you find all your holiday gift surprises, but we can help you find some really wonderful and tasty holiday dessert recipe ideas today. For instance, if you love the taste and flavors of chocolate, coffee, cocoa and Kahlua, you might be interested in making the decadent and tempting jello chocolate Kahlua cake as your holiday treat this year.

I’ve noticed that I’ve been lagging in the homemade dessert department for some time now.

First of all, they bring added pizazz to a meal. Secondly, a little sweetness can go a long way to prevent the dreaded grazing habit and it’s a great bonding dish to create with children who actively seek making stuff with you in the kitchen.

You can liven up any holiday atmosphere when you choose to include jello recipes to your party planning and meal planning projects. Some of them are so easy that even your children may want to help you make the desserts at your house and some of them they can easily make themselves to surprise you. Try this delicious recipe for your next holiday party or social gathering; everyone will be asking you for the recipe so they can make their own wonderful and chocolaty jello cake. The holidays are for celebrating and spending time with family and friends.

Finally, I’ve realized that some of my husband’s fondest memories are about desserts that his mom used to make. But don’t we all? No one reminisces over the canned veggies now do they?

I had it on hand, quietly keeping the flour and sugar company in the pantry. Having no better recipe than the one on the back of the box. My daughter’s got my brownie recipe in her head and went straight for melting the chocolate in the saucepan. (Personally, I think she just likes breaking the bar up into chunks and stirring what looks like Willy Wonka’s chocolate River.) She also got out the eggs, a mixing bowl, un fouet, whisk and flour.

The recipe is quite simple, easy, not difficult (except for whipping les blancs d’oeufs en neige, whipping the egg whites stiff). My daughter practiced her reading (of the recipe) and I got a bicep workout whisking the yokes with the sugar and butter until light yellow. Excellent, reading practice, arm workout, dessert for all in one go.

    What You Need

Now that’s the kind of return I want on all my investments.

    • 1 chocolate cake mix
    • 1 package Jello chocolate fudge instant pudding
    • ½ cup vegetable oil
    • 4 eggs
    • ¾ cup Kahlua

    • 6 Tablespoons butter or margarine

When that time of year comes around again and the weather starts to get colder as the winter season arrives, your thoughts may well once again turn to that wonderful festive time of year - Christmas. But what are the ingredients that make a great family Christmas? what is fundamental to ensure that the family has a great time.

One idea to consider before the festive season rears its head is whether or not you and your family are going to stay at home during Christmas, or to head off on vacation to a far flung destination. Whether this is an exotic destination or somewhere more rustic and nestled off in the mountains doesn’t really matter. The important thing is to spend time as a family and to enjoy each others company.

If you are looking to stay at home you need to think about whether you are going to spend it with immediate family only, or with extended family added on, or maybe some friends as well. Or perhaps you will be looking to take a break from doing all the cooking and being the host this year and to take up one of your many invites and go off and eat a meal deliciously and meticulously prepared by somebody else. Wherever you decide to be, as long as you are with people you love then it will no doubt be a fun filled and happy occasion.

A traditional part of Christmas is the giving of gifts. Whether you are a family who has a few sparing gifts sat beneath your beautifully decorated tree, or have an overflowing mountain that cab barely fit under it, you should be putting close thought into each and every thing you buy.

For the kids particularly its important to get something they will really enjoy. For babies perhaps some baby bath toys for them to play with or some cars transformers for the younger kids to play with. Try not to get anything too boring like a black helmet for your kid with a bike. You want to be looking to get things that are fun and can be played with, not anything too practical.

And then there is the meal. What sort of meat will you dish up, and what vegetables will you serve? a traditional turkey with stuffing and all the usual trimmings is never far off the mark. Depending on the size of the table you can never go wrong with several desserts at the end, with cheese, crackers and mulled wine to polish things off.

However you choose to enjoy your own Christmas, the most important thing to remember is what it all represents and to enjoy the time you can with the people closest to you.
